What is a Two Day Retreat?Three months after a Kairos Weekend, which is sometimes called a "Walk", a portion of the team returns for a the Retreat. Those team members who are able to attend the Retreat gather on Friday night for fellowship and to receive their assignments. A series of talks are assigned and discussed. The number and content depend upon which model is being used, and how many team members are able to attend. Early Saturday morning the members enter the prison and meet will all residents who have been on a Kairos Weekend at any unit in the United States, or the world for that matter. Following fellowship time the presentation of the talks begin and this is followed by small group discussion. The atmosphere is much more relaxed than during a Weekend. Since the talks are designed to share information on how to make it on your 4th Day, the discussion can be very intense. Each small group has one "man of color" as the free world team members are called, so the more that can attend the smaller the group. Most men in color report that they learn more than they teach in these meetings, and there is always plenty of time to fellowship and just have fun. These very important meetings serve to mark the end of one Weekend and the beginning of the next. The new rector will begin to build his team at this time and generally plan for the next weekend. This is also one of the times when the Advisory council meets.
