Minutes for the Inside Council Meeting held on September 11, 1999 Members Attending: Robert Ewing Inside Director Clifford Phillip Secretary Jonathan Moser 18 Dorm Rep. Frank Lambert 3 Bldg Rep. Fakri Abdel-Malak 4 Bldg Rep. Alvin Proctor 19 Dorm Rep.. Kenneth Johnson 18 Dorm Alt. William Tolle Advisory Support The meeting opening was delayed due to failure to receive lay-in passes for the correct time. Call-out’s were issued and the meeting began at approximately 10:00 AM with members listed above present. Willie Johnson (Outside Director) present. The first item of business was to decide on the process for choosing new Music Council Representatives and Alternate. Inside Council decided to ask the present Music Council decide this amongst themselves. Their response was for Sergio Zuniga to be the new Representative and for Odie Scale to be the new Alternate. The second item of business wag to decide the process for choosing new Alternates for 18 Dorm, 19 Dorm, 3 Building, and Alternate and new Representative for 7 Building. Inside Council voted and decided to place sign-up sheets for these positions out during the Saturday Reunion and accept volunteers. A list of these names is attached to this meeting minutes, and will be voted on during the next Inside Council Meeting. The third item of business was to update the Roster for the entire Inside Council, including the Music Council and the Agape Council. This also was accomplished during the Saturday Reunion and a list of these names is also attached to this meeting minutes. The fourth Item of business involved Kenneth Johnson requesting to step down from being the 18 Dorm Alternate. Council accepted his request. The fifth item of business discussed was about reorganizing the grouping during the meetings. Council agreed that a group of no Less than four inmates and no more than six inmates will be allowed. Each group will also include one free world person. Willie Johnson agreed to this and also brought up the fact that these groups needed more diversity,, according to racial choices. This the Council also agreed on and will enforce, with the backing of the Outside (free-world) Council. The sixth item of business was to start introducing new members, usually from other Units, at the beginning of each meeting. Also, to recognize birthdays on a weekly basis, and singing "Happy Birthday" and "You are Loved" The seventh item of business was to start each meeting by sitting in we used to do, and is done in all other Kairos meetings throughout the system. Council agreed to this, and the practice was started at the Saturday Reunion following the Council meeting. The eighth item of business was to request of the Deacon and of the Warden time to be allowed to the Music Council to come into the Unit Chapel to practice their music and to learn the songs of the Kairos song book. Council decided to submit a written request for this to Deacon Beltran with his approval to be forwarded to the Unit Warden for final approval. This request will be submitted at a later date, but before the next Council Meeting. At approximately 11:50 AM Council Meeting closed with Willie Johnson leading in prayer.
