Advising Recotor

The Advising Rector job is really rewarding in that as the team
first begins to form there is a very useful role in trying to help the new Rector avoid some of the mistakes that were made in the preceding weekend. Initially Willie would come to me as a friend and as an Advising Rector to ask my advice on a few things and while I tried to help when I could, it was neat to remind him that Jesus Christ had selected Willie Johnson to lead Hughes 5. To remind him that Hughes 5 was so important to the Lord that if Willie would take each issue to Him in prayer, things would work out. I remembered how sensitive and supportive Brent was to me in the same role and I tried to model my service on the team to what Brent did. I watched Willie do that and it was so sweet to see him grow in his determination to make Hughes 5 everything that the Lord wanted it to be and to watch the team rally around him as he truly assumed the leadership role Christ annointed him with.

Toward the end of the team meetings Willie would use me to  bounce ideas off of but by then He was just looking for support as he already had an ideal of what the Lord would have him do. By the time the weekend rolled around, Willie and Christ were joined on Hughes 5 and my job faded the way it is supposed to do. What does the scritpture say, "As Christ increases, so must I decrease". I believe Advising Rectors develope an infinity for what John was feeling when he made that quote. The really neat thing about it is you have that feeling that this is way it is supposed to be and you feel really good about it. That is exactly the way I felt about Hughes 5.

Christ's will was done! I am really looking forward to being a foot soldier in Christ's army again. Hope this is what you are looking for. The actual list of duties such as they are, are in the purple book.

Your brother in Christ,

Russ.
