The Two Day Retreat Ran On Time! The speakers followed the outlines and the discussions followed the talks. We had about a hundred brothers in white for the weekend. Several were not able to attend because they were not able to get off work. However the Holy Spirit was very much in evidence as the small groups worked on the questions raised by the speakers. It should always be remembered that not all the men who come to Kairos have accepted Christ, and all of us are still very much on our Spiritual journey. One brother in white expressed it this way. "I still have a lot of hate in my heart and I don't believe yet. There's a lot of bad things here and I'm involved in a lot of it. I come here for some balance, some love to offset all the other. I didn't want to come for a long time because I didn't want to be a hypocrite. But some of the guys in here said that I should come anyway, that as long as you're honest you're not being a hypocrite. I really need this, it's helping me to be a better person."For a number of reasons, Palm Sunday being one, there were fewer men in color than we would have hoped. Still God will work with what we give him. When the weekend was ending and the circled group had sung Surly the Presence of the Lord and said the Lord's prayer the question was asked by one of the brothers in white "WHO IS THE CHURCH?" the response thundered back: We are the Church!!!!!!!It was a good answer and a good retreat. |
