Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The "Woo" was in the House during our first Kairos Hughes 11 team meeting on July 20, and we’re off to a great start! The second team meeting is set for Saturday, August 3, at Dripping Springs United Methodist Church. As a reminder, DSUMC is located on Ranch Road 12 in Dripping Springs, one mile north of the intersection with US 290. The church’s phone number is (512) 894-7123. We will meet again in the Family Life Center, which is the building with a gym at the south end of the church. We will again begin gathering at 9am and the meeting will begin at 9:30am. The meeting will end at approximately 3:30pm.

Coffee and tea will be provided again. Please bring a snack and cold drinks to share with your team members. We will be having lunch at about 12 noon. Lunch is being provided by the Seekers Class of DSUMC. The Seekers are asking for a donation of $5 (or whatever your budget can afford), to cover the cost of the meal and to help support class ministries and projects (including Kairos!). We are going to have a special guest join us for lunch! Those who attended Meeting 1 will recall Hank Smith talking about Jeff Macklin, the Kairos "grad" who is now in ministry and is scheduled to go on a mission trip to Zimbabwe in September. Jeff is a wonderful singer and will be performing some Kairos songs accompanied by our Hughes 11 Music Team during lunch.

We will again begin the meeting with singing, prayer, and introductions of team members, especially folks who weren’t able to attend Meeting 1. The theme of the morning session is The Nature of God’s Love. The scripture for the session is Galatians 5:13 & 14. The theme for the afternoon session is The Nature of Our Sinful Love. The scripture for this session is Mark 12:41-43. Please write both scriptures on a 3X5 card and read and meditate on them each day before the meeting.

New team members are again reminded to apply for TDC Volunteer Training. If you didn’t pick up an application at the first meeting, you can download one from the Kairos Hughes Website, which is listed above. There will also be copies available again at the meeting.

Please remember to send your team application or corrected information sheet to me or bring it to the meeting, if you haven’t already done so.

Finally, I ask that you continue to be in prayer for Hughes 11, including the candidates, team, and prison staff. I ask you to pray for me as I will be praying for you.
