Instructional Weekend

May 8, 1999 Normally the instructional weekend is held the Saturday after a Weekend (sometimes called a Walk) however due to some scheduling problems this one was held two weeks later, on the day of the normal Monthly Gathering.

We got a late start due to some security problems, but the institution helped us as best they were able, and while we had to cut the time of some of the talks and discussion that followed, we covered all the topics in the time allowed.  Some of the team members were delayed in getting in, but attendance by the team was gratifying and all the former candidates who were still at Hughes attended.  Following the Instructional Meeting the newest members of the Kairos family joined in the Monthly gathering with the rest of the Brothers in White.

The opportunity to put into practice immediately what had just been taught was a blessing.  One result of this approach was that since the Monthly Gatherings are not normally grouped by "families" that Hughes #4 members did not begin grouping by family.  There are both positive and negative aspects of this and the Advisory Councils (both inside and outside) need to discuss if we want to continue the model in the future.
