Good Morning Team,

Just a couple reminders regarding the upcoming Two-Day.

The Team Meeting will be at Ranchers at 6:30 PM. I plan to start the meeting at 6:30 sharp so as to not keep everyone out late. Please feel free to eat during the meeting. We will have a brief explanation of what to expect and discuss the goal/mission for the reunion weekend. We will pray over and select speakers for each of the 8 talks.

We have been ask to modify our schedule in attempt to cut down the amount of overtime required to accommodate us. (We are still guests in the unit) At least they have yet to give me a key.........

Saturday is a very heavy visitation day and adds extra stress on the staff. Therefore we have been asked to arrive as a group (at 6:30 AM) and depart as a group no later than 3:30. The Warden does not want us wandering in and out of the unit. We almost got into trouble over this during the last weekend. For those of us staying in Gatesville, arriving at 6:30 will be a little less painful (anything before 10:00 AM ,on Saturday, is excruciating pain to me) than for those planning on coming in from Home. Ah shucks, guys. I'm trying, my dead-level best, to find the nicest way I know how to sweeten up the way it was put to me: "If you can't make it on time - don't come!"

I can understand their concerns as they are watching lots of activity with all the visitors in the One Building and we are not aware of every situation they may have at any given time. We had become lax and our relationship had become strained. So let's not abuse our "Slippery but getting firmer" welcome mat. I am reminded, frequently, that we ARE in a Maximum Security Prison - Not a Church Camp. The more we comply, the stronger relationship we build.

There will be no food (snacks) brought in this weekend until we get the food agreement finalized. This process is happening as we speak, under the very capable hands of our UAC Chair, Greg. We anticipate, at least for now, there will be no problems getting food and cookies in on future Hughes Weekends, once the agreement is finalized. We are trying to get permission to bring in free world coffee for this weekend. Praise God! Another prayer answered. I just received that permission. Now, I am looking for anyone that would like to donate up to 4 - 3lb. cans of Folgers or Maxwell House. Please let me know so we only have what we need.

Bless You all, for all you do.
ybiC,
Ron

"You are to come to the Lord in childlike faith with your specific requests, knowing how much He desires to give good gifts to His children" (see Matt. 7:11, Luke 18:17 & Jas. 4:3) Our prayers are sure evident in the way things are shaping up at Hughes. Keep 'em coming........................
