KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY

Dear Fellow Members of the Hughes 8 Team:

Our first meeting was a great success, the Spirit is with us! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it; I hope to see all of you on February 10th, at Northwest Hills United Methodist in Austin. If you lost your directions, feel free to give me a call, or check the map on the Hughes web site (I have placed a link below). My phone numbers are listed at the end of this message.

On the morning of the 10th, our theme will be SERVANTHOOD OF LISTENING, and the scripture verse is Matthew 20:26-28. In the afternoon, our theme will be NATURE OF GOD'S LOVE, and the verse will be Hebrews 10:24-25. Please write both of these verses on a 3x5 card and carry them with you the week before the meeting. Meditate on them as often as you can.

I remind you that you should be writing letters, getting sponsorships and don't forget the cookies! You have lots of time before the Kairos but it will go fast if you let it. Also, I have placed a link below, where you can direct people who may be interested in attending closing. In many ways, closing is an opportunity lost. It is both a witness to the Candidates, and a source of new Kairos volunteers. Lets agree that as a team, our goal is to extend closing invitations to as many people as possible. I have never seen a closing that could not have handled twice as many people from the free world community as actually attended.

The manuals and freedom guides have arrived, and will be available on the 10th. Manuals are $6, quite a bargain for a 340 page book! If you don't have a manual, come prepared to get one.

Bring a snack to share, and lunch will once again be brought in. You will be asked for a nominal donation to cover the cost. I don't yet know what the suggested amount will be, but it should be close to the $4 that was suggested last time. Please do not plan to go out for lunch. Meal times are a great opportunity to get to know each other a little better. If you have special needs, or are a real picky eater, than by all means bring your lunch with you.

For those who were NOT able to make the last meeting: we have been told that we are NOT to be writing to our Brothers in White at this time, because of labor shortages at the institution. If you continue to write, you are in danger of loosing your Kairos privileges.

God Bless you all, and keep me in your prayers, you're in mine. Keep the Candidates and all of Hughes in our prayers as well.

Greg
